Turtle Troop is a Valorant team competing in the North American (NA) Valorant Challengers and the team is currently unsigned. Notably, it was forced to change names from Squirtle Squad to Turtle Troop in January 2023 due to trademark issues and a conflict of interest between Riot Games and Nintendo. After winning the Valorant Challengers 2023: North America Split 1 – Last Chance Qualifier, Turtle Troop punched its ticket to the main stage of NA Valorant Challengers. On 9th March, Turtle Troop tweeted a tease, potentially hinting at Twitch megastar Félix “xQc” Lengyel’s entry into the Valorant esports ecosystem.

Likewise, many content creators and streamers are starting to invest in Valorant teams, attracting a lot of attention to the ecosystem. Turtle Troop is currently participating in Valorant Challengers Split 1 and has a 2-2 record in Group A where it stands third in the standings. The team’s roster is as follows:

Turtle Troop recently picked up a win against G2 Esports and its next match is against Oxygen Esports on 17th March.

xQc’s interest in Valorant esports

Before it was reported that xQc was looking to sign Turtle Troop, the Twitch icon , “Yo, I’m going to buy my own team and I’m going to go smoke f**** Disguised Toast.” Following this, when Ludwig announced the signing of Moist Moguls Valorant team, xQc revealed that he almost got “scammed” during his search for a Valorant team.

xQc said, “I was way ahead of Ludwig to sign a team. They had already found a sponsor and I said ‘Yo guys I want to buy a team,’ and the other DM [direct message] I got was from a bunch of low Silver crypto scammers and that’s it. Nobody else, nobody DMs me again, man.”

With Turtle Troop already teasing this news on its socials, we should be getting an official confirmation of xQc signing the team in the coming days. Notably, if Turtle Troop ends up in the top four of its Group, it is guaranteed a spot in the upcoming Valorant Mid-Season Invitational.
